The Supplier Development Specialist Engineer will act as an extension of CTS Corporation, partnering with our suppliers, buyers and other functional groups, promoting collaborative and open relationships. This person will have a great deal of flexibility and autonomy while working in a team environment. This person will lead supplier evaluation, the source selection process through PPAP and production launch. Once in production, he/she will provide ongoing performance measurement and continuous improvement initiatives for targeted members of the supply base, working to correct deficiencies and improve Quality, Service and Cost. Major Areas of Responsibility
Leads the effort to perform detailed assessments of potential suppliers prior to award of business and determine the operational effectiveness of the suppliers’ business systems (quality and manufacturing) and practices. Assessments/audits conducted with existing suppliers to ensure adherence to the documented systems, process control plans, and to verify completion of action items in Supplier Continuous Improvement plans.
Will lead the function to ensure suppliers improve requirements for Quality, Service and Cost, addressing formal action items as part of the Supplier Continuous Improvement Program and providing education and assistance as needed.
Will oversee the Supplier Performance Measurement system, maintain the Supplier Development Matrix, develop strategies for dock-to-stock participation of suppliers and maintain the Approved/Preferred/World Class Supplier Classification program.
Continuously evaluate systems for effectiveness, efficiency and value. Modify/implement new systems to improve goals of Supplier Development.
Work with Purchasing, Quality and the Supplier to ensure Supplier Improvement Requests are being implemented, monitoring the corrective action for timely response and ongoing evaluation.
Act as the problem resolution champion, coordinating communications via conference calls, on-site visits/audits and leading problem-solving activities.
Provides feedback on issues affecting resolution, data driven metrics, supplier quality, validation, improvement and execution.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
8-D problem solving techniques.
Proficient in Microsoft applications.
ISO9000/IATF16949/Lead Auditor Training.
Understanding/use of Lean Manufacturing Tools/Techniques.
Quality and Engineering or Manufacturing or Supplier Development experience (Automotive or Manufacturing related).
Education and Experience
Ideal candidate will have 3-10+ years of experience.
Four-year degree (BS) in Business, Engineering or other related technical degree.
Ability to work several hours at a computer.
Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed, approximately 25-50% travel.
Standard office environment; Primary office location in Lisle, IL or Farmington, MI.
