Senior Accountant

Job/Position Summary

Responsible for the cost accounting functions and the preparation of various financial reports for the operation.  The cost accounting functions include inventory management, financial close and reporting, general ledger, budgeting and forecast.  This position must adhere to Corporate Accounting Policies and function in a team environment.
 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for manufacturing costs and inventory accounting activities for the Albuquerque Plant.  This includes maintaining the inventory perpetual records and costs, establishing new burden and labor rates, leading and reconciling annual physical inventory, monitoring variances, working with Engineering on routing, structure and cost estimates, and evaluating processes and recommending continuous improvements.
  • Performs the activities for the financial close month end reporting including reconciliation of inventory accounts, variances analysis, product line, cost of quality, labor efficiency and other cost related analysis.  This also includes related activities such as assisting in preparing year-end audit work papers, maintenance of the general ledgers, and assistance on SOX 404 audit.
  • Works with Controller on budgeting and forecast including burden department expenses budget detail and reporting, standard cost setting, variances analysis, and inter-company transfer pricing.
 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Excel and general ledger software.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of corporate policies and procedures.  Knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks.
  • Able to present financial information to non-financial personnel.
  • Ability to lead effective communication internally as well as with CTS customers and suppliers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 1 – 3 years of Cost Accounting experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel and general ledger software.
  • Ability to work independently and execute multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work several hours at a computer
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed
