Job/Position Summary

Under the direction of the Albuquerque, NM Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the efforts to optimize the ceramic manufacture and quality of ceramic product offerings. As required, he/she will fill gaps in current process capabilities by researching alternative innovative approaches, identifying promising alternatives, and developing the best fit technology into a robust manufacturing process. 
  • Leads manufacturing engineering efforts and provides direction to engineers and technicians who may or may not be direct reports in problem solving activities and technical guidance.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement and lean 6-sigma projects.
  • Responsible for introducing new products in conjunction with the new product development team and successfully launching new products to manufacturing in a rapid, efficient and quality manner.
  • Excellent communication and follow up skills, acting as the main point of contact for customers on quality issues, cost improvement initiatives, and engineering changes.
  • Capable of conveying ideas and concepts clearly and effectively through verbal and written communication to all levels of the organization.
  • Develops mentoring programs and manages peers and subordinates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead multilevel process engineering team to improve product quality, improve process capability, and reduce manufacturing cost.
  • Work closely with new product introduction team to efficiently and cost effectively introduce new products into manufacturing.
  • Develop capital plan to support manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for presenting to management and customers.
  • Address shortfalls in products, materials, and processes through development of creative and innovative approaches. Files disclosures for potential patents and/or trade secrets.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience preferably in the field of electronic ceramics. 
  • Six-Sigma and lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Direct ceramic component manufacturing experience required.
  • Skilled in applying analytical tools and statistical techniques.
  • Strong presentation skills to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and drives projects to completion.
  • The ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams comprised of engineers, technicians and manufacturing personnel.
  • Experience playing a key role in the development of a new product from drawing to high volume production.
  • Lifting to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to work in environments where there is exposure to loud noise levels, moving mechanical parts, non-hazardous fumes, airborne particles, lead containing powders and piezoelectric ceramics. Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when appropriate is required. Strong background in the latest engineering practices.
  • Travel as required to foreign and domestic locations (up to 20%).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to mentor engineers and technicians, enhancing skills and developing career growth plans.
  • Ability to work directly with customers to negotiate specifications and bring projects to completion.
  • Fundamental knowledge of statistical tools such as Mini Tab, JMP and basic statistical methods such as gage capability (MSA), ability to setup and run designed experiments, and do statistical analysis such as t-tests.
  • Skilled in applying analytical tools and statistical techniques.
