Tax Compliance Manager

Job/Position Summary

Ensures compliance with tax reporting requirements and accuracy of the tax-related financial statement disclosures.  Assists Tax Director in developing strategic initiatives to reduce the worldwide effective tax rate.   

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsible for timely preparation of the US income tax returns, including consolidated federal 1120 return, foreign tax credit Form 1118, reporting for non-US subsidiaries Forms 5471, 8858 and state returns.
  • Preparation of U.S. quarterly estimated tax calculations and extensions.
  • Preparation of state sales and use tax returns, and property tax returns.
  • Responsible for the overall return calendar and coordination of timing and inputs with other finance team members.
  • Review and respond to information requests from tax authorities, manage audits, and proactively identify adjustments to be proposed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for the current tax return processes.
  • Research and document income tax accounting methods, tax positions, processes and nexus reviews.
  • Responsible for administering and maintaining the tax preparation software. (CorpTax ).
  • Advises Tax Director regarding the impact of new tax legislation(s). 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic tax planning for federal and state taxes.
  • Assists with various other tax matters including ongoing review of tax procedures to streamline processes and minimize risk.
 
 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills. Exposure to a broad base of income tax issues, including state tax and international tax, preferred.
  • Sound decision-making skills using analytical data and information from internal and external sources.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset to improve output and free up resources for analytical support.
  • Planning, time management, and organizational skills are required to meet reporting and special project deadlines with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information to non-financial managers. Good verbal and written communication skills must also be possessed for presentations, letters, and memos.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including knowledge of SAP, Corptax, HFM, OneSource and Microsoft Office applications.
  • High Integrity, self-starter, and a strong work ethic.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting required. Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation or MBA preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate taxation for a public accounting firm or in a corporate setting required. 
  • CPA preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work several hours at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally work nights and weekends.
  • Minimal travel (under 10% domestically).

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
