Test Technician

Job/Position Summary

This position will provide support to perform activities related to various product development and validation test plans.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning, performing, and documentation of product tests (including vibration, temperature, humidity, corrosion, etc.) test system and test technique development
  • Instrumentation setup, test equipment operation, recording measurements, and data presentation including oscilloscope, signal generator, signal analyzer, vibration control system, environmental chambers, accelerometers, and amplifiers.
  • Troubleshooting test equipment. Recognize equipment malfunctions and notify Resource Coordinator of condition and indications of failure. Maintain test fixtures by properly lubricating prior to performing a test and notify Resource Coordinator of obvious mechanical issues that may require repair or replacement of tooling.
  • Develop and/or write work instructions and user/reference manuals. Schedule equipment and monitor progress of test to ensure timing is maintained. Monitor commonly used expendable materials and notify Resource Coordinator when replenishment is required
  • Efficiently and effectively communicate with global teams across various disciplines.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement.


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience (5 or more years preferred) in a Validation Lab environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Associate’s Degree (STEM curriculum preferred.)
  • Experience with environmental test equipment including vibration systems & environmental chambers.
  • Experience with instrumentation including oscilloscopes, strip chart recorders, signal generators, signal analyzers, vibration control systems, accelerometers, and amplifiers.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated, proactive with outstanding planning and follow up skills.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects/tasks.
  • Able to communicate and write effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally as well as with CTS customers and suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be capable of walking & standing for up to 2 hours to setup product tests.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying 30 pounds maximum.
  • Manual dexterity required to handle and inspect small & large parts, solder small parts and measure parts.
  • Capable of using basic hand tools (screw driver, wrenches, torque wrenches, cutting tools, etc.)
  • Ability to use Microsoft office required.
