Manufacturing Supervisor

Job/Position Summary

Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the HPZT department.  Creates and enforces company policies and procedures consistently.  Ensures that customer deliveries are made on-time and exceeds customer expectations for quality. 

Under the direction of the Production Manager/Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Supervisor will coordinate the activities of the production line operators in the manufacturing of products. The Manufacturing Supervisor will provide direction & support to operators in training, problem solving, process characterization, design & development process efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities. Provides input in the development of new products or processes as required. Provides support to engineers and technicians in training, problem solving, product or process characterization, design and development, process efficiency improvements and continuous improvement activities. Requires the ability to communicate effectively. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment using 5S techniques in line with the factory initiatives.
    • Assure production team follows approved safety and environmental policies / practices.
    • Actively identifies and follows through on any safety issues.
  • Sustains activities related to the manufacturing line coordination, line flow scheduling.
  • Manage part flow of parts based on production schedules.

    • Testing and processing
  • Manages and participates in the processes including printing, poling, testing and inspection of production parts.
  • Maintains accuracy of production entry and inventories in the company’s MRP system.
  • Day to day management of department expenses.
  • Responsible for the HPZT Process of the CTS AM Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 2015.
  • Maintain test and inspection criteria for finished products.
  • Verify test and production parameters for product based on customer specifications.
  • Monitors and reviews SPC data for out-of-control conditions in support of the factory Statistical Process Control (SPC) initiatives.
  • Responsible for the HPZT Process of the CTS AM Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 2015.
  • Manage and train Group Leaders to Standard Work.
  • Maintains training matrix for all employees.
  • Consistent application of all corporate HR policies and site-specific HR policies. Thorough documentation of employee performance issues and completion of employee performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required. BA / BS degree or AS degree in a technical field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Ability to effectively use software tools like Microsoft word, excel, and power-point.
  • Requires Analysis, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process. Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision.
  • Prior ERP experience preferred (SAP desired).

  • Knowledge and Technical Skills:
    • Technical or industry-specific job knowledge
      • Ability to learn complex processes.
      • Knowledge of process control tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability, etc. Good problem-solving skills.

    • Judgement and analytical conceptualization abilities      
      • Ability to use good judgment in making decisions with minimal supervision. Good root cause analysis skills.
  • Initiative:
    • Ability to proactively develop new ideas / methodologies

    • Project management capability requirements    
      • Strong organizational skills resulting in the ability to manage and execute multiple activities at the same time.
      • Ability to complete tasks on schedule, organizes line flow, and schedule operator activities.

    • Verbal / written, negotiation skills, presentation skills, etc.             
      • Displays qualities of edge leadership, not intimidated by people or challenges.
      • Good verbal and written communication skills.
      • Participate in team management meetings.
      • Ability to confront issue head on.
  • Leadership:
    • Coaching, Mentoring, performance management responsibilities
      • Ability to lead and energize a team to meet performance objectives and continuous improvement.
